In 2004, Connie Sue and Anne Beadell installed a family
plaque at the
intersection of the Callawa and
Wapet Tracks to commemorate the construction of the Callawa by the GCP in the early 1960's. On visiting the site this year, I managed to horrendously over-expose all the photos I took of the
plaque. Could anyone provide me with a recent photo either posted here or to my email address, mickolsen13@hotmail.com. I'd be very appreciative.
Cheers Mick.

Hi Mick
Am not able to provide a photo of the Beadell
plaque but can't resist posting four pics of the
Wapet/Kidson
Track one showing a sign to
Marble Bar via Callawa Stn. I suspect the
plaque you're talking about is nowhere near that spot. These photos were taken in 2006. The condition of the
track varied greatly, which is what makes outback travel so seductive!
Cheers to all
Megan

Thanks Megan,
My time on the
Wapet/Kidson was all too short. As you probably know we headed north east from the Kidson into the GSD where we could only dream of a luxurious "super-highway" like the
Wapet.
Well that's what it seemed like after 10 days of cross country stuff. The trip planning continues for 2010 though.
Regards
Mick
